After 14 years as the business partner of legendary bandleader Ray Benson, in Austin, TX, I have explored a number of freelance opportunities, both in the public sector and designing music ecosystem studies for a start-up consultancy. I am currently pursuing employment that leverages my unique combination of operational business and creative experience, for a full-time opportunity.
I have always worked in creative industries, and always with one foot in the expression and the other in the operational business administration. My early career in Louisiana included programming of multi-cultural festivals, breaking a roots-music band into global visibility as both manager and band-member and producing album projects. After obtaining an MBA, I returned to full-time management of an 18-person music company, overseeing four distinct business units that, as an independent firm integrating its value chain in publishing, record label, recording studio, artist management and tour production. More recently, I have consulted local government and economic developers, designing first-ever surveys of local music ecosystem participants in 17 cities across the US, and recommending policy responses to help stimulate creative economies.
I worked professionally with my family, as a band, starting at age 10, an experience that included homeschooling, recording and year-round touring across North America and Europe. I subsequently earned a degree in Social Anthropology from Harvard University in 1991, and an MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin in 2001.
